What Types of Accommodations Does Walt Disney World Resort Offer?
We all know magic abounds at the Walt Disney World Resort! From the escapism and child-like wonder of Magic Kingdom to the spirit of discovery fostered at EPCOT, the theme parks (and two water parks) offer something for every guest. But what about when you leave park and need a place to rest your weary feet? Join me as I take you on a quick tour of the different resort types around Walt Disney World, and what they offer varying families and budgets.
Value Resorts
Value Resorts are often the most popular with young families. Not only do they offer bright, colourful theming often geared toward younger guests, but they also boast the most economical rates around the resort. That doesn’t mean they skimp on amenities, however! Value resorts showcase fun themed pools and guest rooms and lots to explore during your stay. Looking to grab a bite to eat? Value Resorts have you covered, each with its own Quick Service Dining (cafeteria style) option, open throughout the day for a snack or a meal on the go.
Theme park transportation is offered at Value Resorts, which includes bus transport, free of charge. Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts are also serviced by the new Disney Skyliner.
Among the Value Resorts, my favourite is Disney’s Pop Century Resort (pictured below). I love its newly renovated, fun themed rooms and the fact that my family can hop on the Disney Skyliner to get to EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and other resorts in this area!
Moderate Resorts
The next “tier” of resorts is Moderate Resorts around the Walt Disney World property. For many families, these bridge the gap between the aforementioned Value Resorts and the Deluxe Resorts that I’ll get to in a moment.
Like the Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts offer beautiful theming and, in many cases, showcase a slightly more refined look. Don’t worry, though, fun and frivolity still abound at these resorts. Look for gorgeous themed pools and gyms available to guests, as well as expanded dining options. Moderate Resorts feature Quick Service Dining options, but offer Table Service Dining options, as well, if your party is looking for a sit-down experience rather than grab and go.
Transportation at Moderate Resorts includes free bus offerings, as well as Disney Skyliner service at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
My favourite Moderate Resorts are Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (pictured below).
Deluxe Resorts
Finally, Disney offers guests the option of accommodations at its Deluxe Resorts. These high-end resorts are the biggest investment, but some guests insist they won’t stay anywhere else! These resorts offer the most upscale rooms (many with kitchen options) and the most amenities around the resorts.
Like Moderate Resorts, Deluxe Resorts offer both Quick Service and Table Service Dining options, including many character dining options, like Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
The pools offer more options, as well. In many cases, expanded splash areas are available, as well as water slides (not offered at Value Resorts), as well as daily cabana rentals if you truly want to unwind for the day.
Like the other resort levels, bus transportation is offered, but Monorail service is available at some Deluxe Resorts, as well, like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (one of my favourite Deluxe Resorts!), and more.
My other go-to Deluxe Resorts are Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the latter where you can literally sleep next to an African savannah!
